Founder's Day Celebration

Founder's Day Celebration for Galesburg's 180th Birthday Celebration will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 4 pm at Central Church, Central Square, Galesburg.  It is sponsored by Public Square 60, the Galesburg Public Square, Galesburg.  The event will recreate in part, the 1887 Semi-Centennial Celebration of the founding of Galesburg, IL and Old First Church.  Local citizens will be reenacting portions of speeches given at the 1887 event, such as George Davis' speech about operating the Underground Railroad in Galesburg (this will be performed by Owen Muelder) and Dr. Bateman, President of Knox College's speech about the founding of the College (this will be formed by Dr. Teresa Amott, current Knox President.  Overall, approximately 12 different speeches will be performed by local impersonators.   This FREE event will be followed by a Cookie Reception at Central Church.  

While the event is free and open to the public, there will be a voluntary free will offering at the event which will be split between the three sponsoring organizations.
